Independent Arts Software was founded in 1990. Since then, the German studio has been developing commercial games software and has become one of the most traditional German developer studios. The team produces titles of various genres for different platforms and has many years of experience and expertise in its own development projects, ports, as well as creative conceptualisation and planning.
"Never stop playing, because ambition pays off" - Anika, Game Design

My Story
Since working in the gaming industry, I've realised time and time again how lucky I can be. As a game designer, you have leadership responsibilities, and I've never felt that being a FLINTA has put me at a disadvantage to be successful at my career.
I have always felt equal. At the same time, if you look around the companies, I realise how few female developers there are or how few female game designers are actively working.
I would still like to thank the companies that I have been able to work for and now especially IAS. Where I feel so comfortable in the company, where I can just be myself and devote my full attention to my Passion – Game Design.
My Call to the Industry
The gaming industry needs more diverse voices. While I've been lucky to feel supported as a FLINTA game designer, female developers are still underrepresented. Let’s create more opportunities for everyone to thrive and pursue their passions equally.
"Never stop playing, because we need to stand together" - Max, 3D Artist

My Story
Not just the gaming industry is in turmoil but seemingly the whole world right now. Entire teams are being fired for delivering an unsuccessful product; entire teams are being fired for delivering a successfull product. Far right populism is on the rise everywhere and just a few weeks ago in the US, the right of self-identification when it comes to gender identity has been outlawed. As an openly non-binary person, that last one especially fills me with dread. It is hard to find the silver linings in the clouds looming over every horizon but they are there. I am immensely grateful to have all these supportive colleagues at my back, to not have to hide myself and feel seen others.
My call to the Industry
It is not enough to leave every minority to fight for their own rights, there is simply not enough of us, but there are enough of you. We have to stick together as an industry, defend the most disadvantaged among us, help each other up after we've fallen and if we stand together we will all be better for it.
